Along the Ridge

Two children and their father form an incomplete and slightly odd family after being abandoned by Stefania, the most important woman in their lives, their mother and wife. For 11-year-old Tommi, a family consists of his sister Viola, who bullies him, and his father Renato, who tends to be harsh and unjust and disciplines his children for their own good. The three people find relative peace in everyday routine of the motherless home until suddenly Stefania returns. Tommi and Viola's mother shows up as recklessly as she has left them and upsets this delicate and hard-earned family equilibrium, churns up buried pain, shatters dreams of peace. Grown-ups and children partly swap roles: the adults go childish while the children have to grow up. Tommi, like a tightrope walker, tries hard to keep his balance on the line between childhood and adulthood.
